Christian Bautista who is known as a supporter of youth organizations and causes such as World Vision and Operation Blessing CBN Asia now has another important cause to add to the growing list: Promil i-Shine. Christian is the official Ambassador of the Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Workshop for Children four to seven years old. In such an endeavor which he considers unique and fulfilling, he promotes a Promil Pre-School-led talent workshop, serving as an inspiration among children who want to nurture their potentials.
“It’s a great honor to help the program. Definitely it’s an opportunity to find talent. Parents can get involved with their kids and use the time this summer in a more productive way. These are the best years to learn.” Bautista is also the celebrity endorser of World Vision, together with Sam Milby, Lea Salonga, Nikki Gil and Sam Concepcion. He adds, “Someday my ambition is to become a spokesperson for UNICEF,” said Christian.
Program Director for i-Shine is the much respected stage performer and director Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo. She said, “We have to nurture talent at a very early age. Some kids as early as two will show it. But there are some kids who have that talent and there’s no way to know that they have it. The program helps kids to explore their potentials. We want to be able to create that path and mold them.” Promil i-Shine is not the first time Christian Bautista and Program director Menchu Lauchengco Yulo have worked together. Menchu directed the musical hit “West Side Story.” Christian was the lead actor with Karylle as his love interest. Karylle can now be seen in ABS CBN’s “Maruja.”
With courses in musical theatre, voice/singing and musical instruments, Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Workshop for Children four to seven years old is a parent’s partner in helping their kids discover, appreciate and hone their potentials quickly and more effectively. Workshop participants can develop and maximize their talents through 10 interactive sessions, each carefully crafted and designed specifically for their age group, and facilitated by instructors with solid background in performing arts as well as in handling pre-school children.
“It is this thrust of developing talents at a young age that makes him a successful singer and stage actor, Mr. Christian Bautista, a perfect fit for Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Workshop for Children four to seven years old. He is indeed a living proof of what can be achieved if talent is developed at an early age,” says Carlo de la Paz, Product Manager of Promil Pre-School.
Very early on Christian was exposed to music and joined the children’s choir. His parents were strong believers in training their kids early. “My parents instilled in us the true meaning of family. We always make it a point to have lunch at my lola’s. Every Christmas every family has to perform, mostly singing. Both my parents taught us to connect with any age. I owe that to them.”
After finding out his talent for singing, Christian auditioned for a small play at Trumpets, in Shangri-La Plaza. He starred with Sam Concepcion and Sam Ortega. “My first stage play, I didn’t even had a line. I had so much fun. Both of these guys were so young and were so amazing already.” Sam is now cast in the ABS-CBN’s new series “Boystown.” His early influences include a wide range of artists such as Lea Salonga, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Josh Groban, Goo Goo Dolls and even Nirvana. Lea Salonga recently joined Christian as a World Vision endorser during a graduation party for Nikki Gil.
From stage plays, Christian ended up in fourth place in a talent competition called “Star In A Million.” “I’ve never joined a singing contest before. I had this Jansport Backpack with long hair. Buti na lang I was the tallest that’s why I stood out.” No one had any concrete plans for him to join showbiz. But even as a fourth placer, he was able to get more attention then his debut album turned triple platinum. Christian is now regarded as an international singing sensation, having hit songs in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and even Taiwan.
